On June 6, during his
working visit in Kazakhstan, CNPC Chairman Wang Yilin met with
Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev in Astana.
Mr. Wang Yilin briefed
on the achievements of Sino-Kazakh oil and gas cooperation over the
past two decades, and expressed his hope to further promote cooperation
between the two sides under China's Belt and Road Initiative and
Kazakhstan's Bright Road Initiative. So far, CNPC has cumulatively
produced and processed crude oil of 290 million tons and 54.74 million
tons respectively. For pipeline construction and operation, the annual
deliverability of the Kazakhstan-China Oil Pipeline and the
Kazakhstan-China Gas Pipeline stand at 20 million tons and 55bcm
respectively, and the Second Kazakhstan-China Gas Pipeline has become
operational. CNPC's investment and taxes paid in Kazakhstan both exceed
USD 40 billion. Additionally, CNPC has spent USD 350 million in local
public welfare undertakings, and provided more than 30,000 jobs for the
local people.
Prime Minister
Bakytzhan Sagintayev spoke highly of the oil and gas cooperation between
the two countries. He expressed his appreciation to CNPC's efforts in
supporting the country's economic development and shouldering its
corporate social responsibilities, as well as his wish to see further
progress in bilateral cooperation.
On the same day, Mr.
Wang met with Sauat Mynbayev, Chairman of the Board of NC "KazMunayGas"
JSC. On behalf of the two companies, they signed an agreement on the
modification of Shymkent refinery and an MOU on natural gas export to
China. On June 7, Mr. Wang Yilin and Kazakhstan's Minister of Energy
Kanat Bozumbayev had a meeting, and signed an MOU on extension of
petroleum contract between Kazakhstan's Ministry of Energy and CNPC.
